Art framing services in Melbourne

Our team fully appreciates that choosing a frame for your artwork can be quite daunting with the wide range of options available, but there’s no need to worry. Our fine art framing services in Melbourne have you covered for all your needs and requirements.

All about professional art framing

We now carry out framing in-house!  This is what allows us to guarantee the quality of all our products, as well as incorporate these services into our giclee printing and framed canvas wall art offerings.

Framing can be a challenging and overwhelming process, whether you’re printing your first canvas or you’re an experienced art buyer. That’s why we are offering this service: to take the pain out of the process with an unknown and untrusted service, where your artworks may get damaged.

We are more than happy to provide an end-to-end solution to save you the hassle. Read on to learn more about our custom art framing and how it works with our Melbourne-based collaborators across Narre Warren, Berwick, Cranbourne and Pakenham, as well as beyond.

Canvas art framing – a how-to guide for beginners

Step 1 – Choosing your style

Choosing a frame introduces so many options which can completely change the overall appearance of any piece and any space. While it can seem an immense choice, selecting the wood or other material for your border is the beginning of your experience.

Our team are always here to assist you in choosing the correct option – down to the colour, grain and texture – to complement your canvas. We have priced options below based on popular colours to keep things simple, with timber styles in White, Black and Natural colours.* (Cost of frame only. Does not include the print or delivery).

Step 2 – Choosing your backing board

Aside from the frame type and size, you must also choose between matte board or double matte board backing. While certain paintings or canvases benefit from space between an ornate or heavy border (in order to ‘breathe’, as we say in the industry), choosing the right distance between picture and board can seem like a minor part of the process.

We’ll let you in on a little secret: more classic pictures or highly saturated images highly benefit from a little extra padding. In the case of matte board, at least, more is often more.

Choose between Double Matte board or no matte board. We’d personally choose the double matte over the single most of the time.

Step 3 – Through the looking glass

Next up is the choice between Standard Glass, low reflective or the superb Art Glass.

We would prefer your image be displayed in Art Glass but if the cost is out of budget, we will suggest normal glass as an alternative option. We rarely recommend opting for a low reflective glass, as in our experience, this choice can make a great print look dull, although non reflective glass does breath, so if your print is touching the glass and you dont want a matt board for whatever reason, non reflective glass is a great option here!

* Cost of frame only. Does not include the print or delivery.
